In sleep's dark theatre
images of what was
Flutter against me with
The cold wings of a stone dove.
The pebbled texture of my skin
Feels pierced as I remember
How your intense gaze
Incited such unbridled passion
One moment And such acute pain
The next.
I could feel the imbalance,
The shift between us
And knew, without a doubt,
That my love for you
With its boundless depths
Was not what you could ever feel.
You gave what you could,
Your emotions lighting the way
Through the darkness in my life,
Showing me the possibilities
And then Left me to wander alone
Lost in the labyrinth of my own desire

The glint in your eye tells me
Just how your body craves that which my words promise in deed
Your tongue dancing between
Your full sensuous lips
Which spurs my fertile imagination
To contest anything reality may offer.
We pause, momentarily caught in
The fiery aura that surrounds us
Until the spell is broken as I touch
Your heated silky flesh
And the battle is already lost
As I surrender to the truth Of our passions.

Across the Universe

Two planetary bodies moving heaven and earth
Finally reaching an orbit only achieved
Once a millenium
Both celestial bodies exchanging
Positive and negative charges,
Their internal energy levels ebbing and flowing,
Condensing and expanding;
Collective molten cores radiating such heat
As to throw off high levels of luminosity that would shine
Like beacons throughout the heavens
Lasting eons past their eventual implosion
Galaxies away from each other
The ionic particles of their brief union
Scattered like pieces of dreams
Seemingly lost in the expanse of time and space
Bandied about by the cosmic winds of eternity
To be united once more in the drop of a tear
Kissed from the cheek of a young woman
By her best friend as she is betrothed to another
Its essence mingling as the warrior turns away
Wondering how she could let love go
Never having spoken what was in her heart
Causing the very heavens to weep
Until their souls were fused together
Once more, releasing the power of
The gods Jove and Venus Veneris

Addicted to Xe

by Robert Palmer/Filked by ArdentTly

Your lights are on, but you're not home
Your mind is not your own
Your body sweats, your heart quakes
A warrior's kiss is all it takes

You can't sleep, you can't eat
There's no doubt, you're in deep
Your heart's a mess and you can't breathe
A warrior's kiss is all you need

Whoa, you like to think that you're immune to her stuff,
oh yeah
It's closer to the truth to say you can't get enough,
You know you're Gonna have to face it,
You're addicted to Xe.

You know the truth and you can see
In her arms lies Destiny
You heart beats in double time
"Another kiss and she'll be mine",

A one track mind
You can't be saved
A Warrior is all you crave
If there's some time left for you
You'll do what you have to do

Whoa, you like to think that you're immune to her stuff,
Oh yeah
It's closer to the truth to say you can't get enough,
You know you're Gonna have to face it,
You're addicted to Xe

Might as well face it, you're addicted to Xe
Might as well face it, she's your Destiny
Might as well face it, you're addicted to Xe
Might as well face it, she's your Destiny
Might as well face it, you're addicted to Xe

Your lights are on, but you're not home
The warrior is not your own
You're body sweats and teeth grind
Without her love you feel like dyin'

Whoa, you like to think that you're immune to her stuff,
Oh yeah
It's closer to the truth to say you can't get enough,
You know you're gonna have to face it,
You're addicted to Xe

Might as well face it, you're addicted to Xe
Might as well face it, she's your Destiny
Might as well face it, you're addicted to Xe
Might as well face it, she's your Destiny
Might as well face it, you're addicted to Xe.

Eyes hungrily drink in every pore;
Each peak, and valley slowly discovered.
Shallow breaths,hands clenched;
Nerves twitch, as anticipation mounts.

Lips dry, throats filled
With a harsh groan.
Wanting more than a gentle touch;
Needing my mouth, my tongue

My teeth,
My wanton ways, consuming her.
Incendiary liquid racing
Through our veins as

Mouths meet,
Flames building as
Passion smolders in her eyes.
Tentative touches no more.

I lie in bed, thinking of you, my heart full and warm.
Even with my eyes closed in the dark,
I can see your image,
As bright as day.
It warms me further.
I feel your breath against my neck and I roll over.
I can almost see you reach for me;
My empty embrace a cold thing to endure.
I lie there bereft and alone.

My thoughts wander between twilight
And I see us together,
lying in each other's arms.
I'm kissing you deeply,
Your hands upon my body, my very soul.
You pull gently away from my embrace and smile.
And then you dissolve into a mist
And I reach out once more,
Expecting you to be there.

But I am alone.

Altered State

I look in the mirror and see chips of alabaster
Flakes of porcelin
Wallpaper drooping from the facade I've built
My mask slipping ever so slightly
And watch in abject horror as those around me
Notice as well.
Holding out their hands to help in reparation
Makes me uneasy and wary
Damage control is best done alone
And so, brick by brick
I crazy glue my life into some sense of order
Mindful of the fact that each crack
Each crevass is bared for public consumption
Gritting my teeth
I apply another layer
Thicker and more robust
A harder shell placed between me and reality
A prison of my own making

And I Will Love You Always

I said that I loved you and you answered me, 'I know'
Then you said, 'I love you, too' but the words just didn't flow
My ego bent and formed and I didn't hear the pause
I offered you a future and you amended with a clause
The times we had were plenty, the love we shared so fine
As I feel you leave me, I confess that I was blind
You gave your heart to me but now you say goodbye
I can hardly bear it, it's like something in me died
The images of us on a reel within my mind
Forever playing softly, where my hopes and dreams reside
We've talked so many times and still it troubles me
That the love is strong and sure but 'us' you cannot see
But I shall love you always, so deep within my heart
Even though I always knew there was doubt right from the start
So I'll dream of holding you so tender in the night
And bear the burden knowing that for you this choice is right

The ticking of the clock
As it slowly makes its way
Across the spaces in my mind,
Filling me with nothing more
Than its constant din
Is like a slow cruel death;
I catch myself gazing at its
Somber visage time and time again.
The flow of my life's blood
Surges and then ebbs as
I try in vain to remain calm,
Making me feel like I'm walking
On a narrow steel girder,
Miles above the ground;
And still the hands creep
Slowly past each number,
Making me doubt my very sanity.
images of our time alone together
Tempt me in vivid technicolor;
In my mind, I try hard not to rush,
Forcing myself to be patient,
Wanting it to last as I feel
Her love infuse me.
And I know, as the cadence
Accelerates mercilessly onward
That I will wish for this painful
Lingering torture as I lie in her arms
At last.

As Xena sits and sharpens her sword, the snick of the stone rhythmically passing over the blade, does she ponder on that which drives her? Does she look across to the blonde tresses that seem to dance and shimmer in the blazing fire's light and want something so very badly that it rules her every waking thought? How does someone who lives life so very intensely function when her very body and soul cries out with need for a soulmate that might perish as a result of her actions or lack thereof?

Ardent Fire

Looking at my hands, I can almost see the need
As it pulses like wildfire through my veins.
The urge to touch her makes my skin tingle
And I can almost feel the warmth of her body
As it moves like some primal symphony
Against the tribal beat of my heart.
Running fingertips over my thighs as l wait,
Yearning to be with her once more,
Forever more, makes me conscious
Of the constant craving that drives me,
Urging me on, even in the twilight hours
When dreamless slumber is what I need
But cannot hope to have.

Ardent One

1 mean what I say and I say what I mean
I'm prolly the most guiless person you've seen
For I'm ArdentTly here, and Ardent One there
I flirt up a storm but I truly do care
I draw and I filk, I poet and rhyme
I love to write alt fic all of the time
Dreaming of Xena is really a hoot
I'd climb up her pole and see her salute!

August Rising

Tall, dark and deadly,
She rises from the calm waters,
Steely gaze burning into mine
As I try desperately not to notice
The water as it sluices down
Over and between the swells of
Her proud bosom;
Cascading over the gentle curve
Of her hips, pooling briefly
At the apex of her tawny thighs.
She seethes with unbridled passion
Wearing her sensuality as an august banner;
Entreating me with eyes both piercing
And all knowing;
And I am lost before the utterance
Of a single word.

August Sunset

The King is dead, only dreams are left.
His funeral barge slowly burns to the ground
And the air is filled with fire flies, motes that
Dance and play upon the wind
Falling as ashes in the shape of tear drops...
Where they sit within one's mouth,
Dulling the joys without.

I shall feast tonight

The Awakening

I watch as she sleeps.
A smile graces her contenance
And I want to be with her once more;
Feel her close to me;
Our bodies covered in the sweet
Sheen of love making.
Reaching out my hand,
I outline her soft lips, her nose.
I am caught in her burning gaze
And fall into the depths of the passion
I see mirrored there.
Bodies move together, slowly whispering
Against each other until
Our throats are straining with
The joy of it all.
